2021. It’s been quite a year in general, and especially within the food world. I was asked by Eater Carolinas to recap a few favorites for 2021, and here they are. Looking forward to what 2022 brings.
Q. What was your best restaurant meal of 2021, either takeout or dine-in?
Wild Common
The cooking school experience at Wild Common. Led by executive chef Orlando Pagán and executive sous chef Zach Kimmel, it’s a unique chance to interact with the chefs and talk with them about how they developed the menu at the restaurant while learn tricks for cooking at home. This all while you enjoy a four-course tasting menu.
Berkley’s
Berkley’s. The duo behind this new addition to the Charleston scene previously operated a popular pop-up in town called We Flew South, and thankfully the excellent cheesesteak with house-made cheese whiz came along to the new restaurant. It’s a great casual neighborhood spot that I’ve been to often over the past year.
Daps & Edmunds Oast
Daps Breakfast & Imbibe, specifically for the excellent breakfast club. Also the Garlic Crab Chicken Dinner at Edmund’s Oast.
